Domain-specific Research infrastructures develop tailored data and metadata management systems to address their individual challenges. While vital for sharing domain-specific data globally, these systems often create silos that cannot be easily integrated with other diverse data types. At an institutional level, generic solutions like iRODS/Yoda offer secure data management and storage but struggle with integration between data types due to limitations with metadata management, hindering FAIR compliance. This project aims to explore the landscape, from generic to specific, and to identify solutions that will address the challenge of cross domain integration.
