LSRIs Webinar: Data and Metadata Acquisition Tools to Increase (Meta)data Interoperability

Date: 15th June 2026
Time: 15:00–16:00
Format: Online (Meeting link)
Organizers: Brett Metcalfe (Wageningen University & Research), Jasper Koehorst (UNLOCK)
Description:
The FAIR principles are a set of guidelines aimed at enhancing the reusability of data and metadata, and therefore increasing their value. One of the FAIR principles, Interoperability, ensures that data and metadata can be exchanged, integrated, processed, and reused with minimal effort by researchers. To achieve interoperability, it is essential that data and metadata follow a consistent structure, use standardized terminology, and are available in appropriate formats. In this webinar, we will highlight two applications developed to support interoperable metadata and datasets: the Lightweight Equipment Adapter Framework (LEAF) and the FAIR Data Station (FAIR-DS). These tools aim to reduce the burden of making metadata and datasets interoperable by supporting a FAIR-by-design approach rather than a FAIR-for-publication approach.
