Announcement: Challenge Call 2026 process of TDCC-SSH now online
We are pleased to announce the next round of the NWO TDCC Call. Information about the project process for the Thematic DCC Social Sciences & Humanities is now available online – take a look and get involved!
We will once again be working with a community-based process for the upcoming NWO TDCC Call 2026. To submit a proposal to the NWO for the social sciences and humanities domain, you must first complete this process and be selected.
The project process will broadly follow the same steps as last year, it will guide you from submitting an initial idea as an expression of interest to submitting your proposal to the NWO.

Upcoming events and the first deadline
Over the coming weeks, we will be presenting our updated project process at the different local Digital Competence Centres (LDCCs) and other relevant organizations around the country, through a series of dedicated online visits ("mini roadshow"). If you would like us to visit your organization too, please get in touch (ssh@tdcc.nl)
As with last year, the first step in participating in our project process is to submit a brief description of your project idea to us. You can do this by filling out our expression of interest form. We are accepting expressions of interest until 22 April 2026 at 14:00 CEST. Submitting an expression of interest is not binding, but mandatory for following our process. Please note that all submissions will be shared publicly.
The NWO is distributing funding for collaborative, cross-organisational projects to help the three Thematic Digital Competence Centres (TDCCs) achieve their goals, which are primarily related to making data and software more FAIR in each of the three domains (Social Sciences & Humanities, Natural & Engineering Sciences, and Life Sciences & Health). The TDCCs play a key role in this process, attracting, developing and selecting project ideas before they can be submitted to the NWO.
This funding strand is intended for medium-sized projects with a duration of up to 24 months and an expected budget of between €50,000 and €400,000. As the TDCC-SSH, we facilitate a community-based process that brings together collaborative projects, from initial submissions to pre-selected full proposals, which can then be submitted to the NWO call.
This call, which will run throughout 2026, has an expected total budget of €800,000 per TDCC.
